Jackie Chapman

  • Jackie Chapman is an artist, sculptor and designer living in coastal British Columbia.

Self‑taught and driven by the desire to design with intention, her craft has been developed through experimentation and by embracing both the predictable and unpredictable in her raw materials.

Guided by slow design, sustainability, and the beauty of imperfection, her intuitive process yields unique, timeless pieces that feel like extensions of nature - grounded yet deeply alive. Each beginning with a piece of sustainably salvaged wood, Jackie’s work is shaped first and foremost by the language of the tree. Following grain patterns, accentuating cracks and embracing flaws.

While her work is rooted in the textures and rhythms of the wild, she’s influenced and inspired by the human experience. Organic, flowing abstract work that’s designed to evoke the emotional undercurrents of life itself.

She currently works out of her studio in Squamish, British Columbia.

Collection Statement

This is a collection about grief. Five pieces - all based on different kinds or phases of grief and loss I’ve experienced in my own life, specifically in the last year. My hope is that people can relate these pillars to their own grief and in turn, we can appreciate the experience of holding both loss and joy at the same time as a collective.

Titled the Kaizen Collection, after the Japanese philosophy of small but continual improvement. You can be in the throws of grief and cracked open, but you can still be okay. one day at a time.

these vessels don't represent overcoming grief - they represent learning to hold life differently. it’s meant to bring us hope. and a reminder to shine our grief brightly, so others in sorrow can find solace and remember the beauty of loving at all.
